Thursday Darts, Week 15 (12/8/11) Last week of season

Final Score: Da Geeks 2, Are We Having Fun Yet 5. Randy, Ken , and Jeff showed up at Centerfield Bar & Grill and are still the number one team.

We tried, I was able to pull off a win in my singles match, but they are a good team. The '01 game we played for the team game was interesting with the other team scoring   a Ton 21 and a Ton 33 while I shot a 2! Well I redeemed myself and I took out the game with us both at 4, I hit the D2 on the second dart.

The Honor Roll had Marvin with two 3x2's, I had a 3x2, and Randy had three 3x2's.

Code: RMB2430001

On a side note, John (Rodman) is taking next season off and if Greg's schedule will allow it, then he will be the third. If not, it looks like Da Geeks will sit out next season. That's OK, I still will be shooting with Greg on Tuesday's.

Tuesday Darts, Week 15 (12/6/11) Last week of season

Final Score: Da Geeks 2, Higgs Boson 5. Mark and Woody showed up at the Dolphin Lounge and gave us some close games.

Not hat close as we did lose the majority of the games but I have to mention me :-). We had not gotten on the board in the team 301 game 1 until they were down to 32. I did get a D13 to finally get us on and long story short, we had 93, they had 8 or lower. I hit a T-19, D-18 to win the game.

The Honor Roll had Greg with a 107 and a 3x2. Woody had a Ton-40, Ton-25, and a Ton-21.

Thursday Darts, Week 14 (12-1-11)

Final Score: Da Geeks 2, Here for the Beer 5. Justin, Ed, and Julien showed up and beat us.

We tried, but nit that well. I was able to beat Ed in my singles match, but that was about it.

The Honor Roll had Marvin with two 3x2 and a 4x2. Ed had a 3x2.

Thursday Darts, Week 13 (11-17-11)

Final Score: Da Geeks 3, Twitchers 4. Bob, Mike, and Jim showed up at a crowded Michael's and watched as we sucked.

Not a good night for Da Geeks, we are so off this season.

The only good point was when Marv needed 4 bulls and a 15 to win. Well he did throw a 4x2 and hit the big pie of the 15.

The Honor Roll had Marv with a 4x2.

Tuesday Darts, Week 13 (11-15-11)

Final Score: Geek & Son 1, Asscott & Kimwitt6. Steve and Kim showed up at a busy pub last night. We got "Cornwalled".

Steve Foley is from Cornwall England and in the 70's early 80's was on the Cornwall County Dart team and from a picture he showed us from his accolades he got, he was quite a player. He put down the darts for 15 years and then picked them back up and joined the PDA. The first captains meeting that Greg went to, Steve got all the awards for all the categories in his division. Bull Buster, High-On, High-Out or Finish as he likes to say, most Ton-80's, pretty amazing.

It was fun shooting against him, trying to keep up, but the games went quickly. Greg kept up against him but Steve is much better.

I shot OK, Tried to keep on in there and did win the only match of the night for us.

The Honor Roll had Greg with a 3x2 and Steve with a Ton-41.

Tuesday Darts, Week 12 (11-8-11)

Final Score: Geek & Son 1, Higgs Boson 6. Woody and Mark showed up and gave us close games. Close, but we did not come out on the winning side.

Greg had an awesome comeback in his first 501 game, coming back from Woody's Ton-41 and Ton-21 to win the game.

We tried but when we were up with 2 bulls to 4 to win a team cricket, Mark came and shot a 4x2 to beat us. that was the type of night it was.

The Honor Roll had Greg with a 4x2, Woody with a Ton-41 and a Ton-21, and Mark with a 4x2.

Thursday Darts, Week 11 (11-3-11)

Final Score: Da Geeks 4, Bud Guys 3. Don, Ernie, and Mark showed up at their staggered times and we had some fun.

Marvin has named Ernie Ironman, Fe for short (yes people, Fe is the symbol for iron but it also describes Ernie, Friggin' Ernie). He came through when it counted, Friggin' Ernie.

The last game it was high score, myself getting a Ton-40, 81, and a Ton while Fe had a Ton-20 and a Ton-40.

The Honor Roll had Marv with a 3x2 and I had two 3x2s.

Thursday Darts, Week 10 (10-27-11)

Final Score: Da Geeks 1, Are We Having Fun Yet 6. Ken, Randy, and Jeff, who showed up 45 minutes late as he works until 8, showed up @TheOldeShip and having 2 A players on their team, kicked our arses.

Ken and Randy are good players with Jeff right up with them. We tried but we didn't try hard enough, except for me who got Jeff when he was not fully warmed up and got our only win for the night.

They won the last cork so they called the team game as a Cricket game down to 10. It has been a long time since we played that game and it showed in the final score.

The Honor Roll had Rodman with a 3x2.

Tuesday Darts, Week 10 (10-26-11)

Final Score: Geek & Son 1, Asscott & Kimwitt 6. Kim and Steve, who is replacing the injured Scott. I hope Scott does the right thing and get some physical therapy on his arm and come back to harass us again.

It was a good night as Josh was the bartender tonight and he drove his '67(?) caddie which really impressed Greg.
Well the score does not reflect the very tight matches we had. Greg was awesome in his cricket game against Kim, getting very many circles on his side of the scoreboard and he remembered the "third dart" rule: if you close a number that you can score on and have one dart in your hand, throw the third in that number again to get a score.

Greg said I should mention my comeback in the 301 game against Steve. He started 3 rounds before I got on, but I got down to a 32 while he had an 8. He threw 4,2,X......that was the type of night it was. Steve finished the night by taking out a 69 with a 19, DB.

Greg and I were really on our doubles Cricket. The second, and last, game, Steve controlled the bulls but we had a lot of point options until they finally close the last one we had, 18's. The score was them 325, us 336. Steve had the bulls and there score was only from bulls. We had 2 bulls so it was first bull from either side wins. Thank you Greg!

The honor roll had Steve with a Ton-40, Ton-21, and a 4x2.

Thursday Darts, Week 9 (10/20/11)

Final Score: Da Geeks 2, Here For The Beer 5. Justin, Ed, and Mr. 17 (and 16) Julien showed up at Throwbacks Sports Bar & Grill where they were out of Coke and Newcastle with one bartender/waiter, with the World Series going on!

As Rodman put it, we threw good, only the other team threw better. I was doing ok until the 9 I threw in the team 1001 for my first turn. I was able to get my singles match won and did help out in the first doubles, but we are not doing to well this season.

Justin was not on as the last time we met but that dang Julien knew where the triple ring was located. Ed had a mental breakdown and I am sorry again I distracted him while he was throwing as I was trying to get Rodman's attention to try to figure out what he was doing.

The Honor Roll had Marv and Ed with a 3x2 each.

Tuesday Darts, Week 9 (10/18/2011)

Final Score; Geek & Son 1, Higgs Boson 6.Mark and Woody showed up with a lot more players at the Dolphin Lounge and got back into their PMW mode. We did start the night on a good note by eating here: Socal Crawfish Connection.

Close but no cigar was our creedo last night. We got close but could npt finish, except for Greg. Greg was doing good until Stephan showed up and bought Greg some Yeager, thanx Stephan.

I shot some good numbers, but I couldn't close, I was resting on the outside of the proper double wires, but I could not connect.

The Honor Roll had Greg with a Ton-20 and Mark had three 3x2s and a High On of a Ton-50 (bastard stole my High On for the season).

Thursday Darts, Week 8 (10/13/11)

Final Score: Da Geeks 5, Twitchers 2. Bob, Mike, Jim, and Thom who came in at game 5 showed up @TheOldeShip and were themselves.

We shot pretty good tonight as the score reflects and I have to say that Jim actually played more than one game in his singles match. He was too bus still being pumped on how he did at Cribbage in a recent tournament he was in in Reno. I think he should stick with the cards and forget darts.

Marvin was good tonight and he took out an 82 in two darts in the final game.

The Honor Roll had Rodman with a 4x2, me with a 3x2, Bob with a 3x2, and Mike had a 3x3 and a 3x2.

Tuesday Darts, Week 8 (10/11/11)

Final Score; Geek & Son 0, Dartaholics 7. Edsel and Alden showed up at the Dolphin Lounge and kicked our arses.

We tried, we were close but the #1 team of E & A just had better throws.

Greg had his Cricket game almost wrapped up against Alden but then Alden came back and shot the heck out of Bulls and Greg was not able to recover. Tough loss for him.

These two are good and it is fun to shoot against them, but lack of practice showed on our part and the board was not the best, but that is no excuse.

The Honor Roll had  Edsel with a Ton-37, a 3x2, and a 3x3. Alden had two Ton-25's and a 5X3.

Tuesday Darts, Week 7 (10-4-11)

Final Score: Geek & Son 5, Asscott & Kimwitt 2. Kim and Scott are always fun to shoot with. I think Kim is finally OK with my remarks I made about him in my blog from last time we met as it was an all night stream of "Blog this Bert!"

It was a Loooooong night for us. It started out by me thinking "How nice it would be for us to find another location to shoot darts as @TheOldeShip was having their monthly Pub Trivia Night (first Tuesday of the month). No big deal, I contacted the other team and we were going to play out of their place. Greg and I get to Centerfiled Sports Bar and I found out I made a big oops. I forgot to look at the other division's schedule and another team was shooting there.

Once Kim and Scott arrived (after Greg had a great looking mushroom burger), we decided to go to Michael's Sports Pub & Grill. We finally got started around 8:45 so it looked like it was going to be a late night starting out, but then it got worse.

I started out good with Kim, but as usual for me, and Greg tonight, the doubling out is becoming a pain. I am close, real close, but bending wires and hitting just outside of the pie, I am an friggin' expert at. I did come back, pulling the darts out of the board before Mr. Arsehole had a chance to see them. He was really trying to get under my skin, but I didn't let it bother me, even after he pointed out my slump on the bottom of the board by missing 12 darts in a row. (see I did mention it Scott, Luv Ya). I did win the Cricket game and finally hit on a double in the 301 to get the leg.

Greg was steady but he forgot where the bulls were but oh my goodness, his singles cricket against Scott was Awesome. He had all "Circles" with no marks inside from 19-16. It was an awesome game and thank the darts gods as he had those to get some points as he was having a brain meltdown as where that little circle was, 5'8" high, 7'9 3/4" away.

I have to mention that Scott was not himself throwing. His past injury to his throwing arm, no not a dart rage injury, thought has crossed many a mind though, but a work related one. He needs to keep rehabilitating his arm as it is better to throw against him when he is Mr. Arsehole the dart player.

We only played 1 game for the last 3 legs instead of the best of 3 as it was getting really late. And as the code shows, all 3 singles matches went 3 games, with people missing outs, it was very tiring.

The Honor Roll had me with a High On of Ton-20.

Thursday Darts, Week 6 (9/29/11)

Final Score: Da Geeks 0, Bud Guys 7. Don, Ernie, and Mark showed up at Michael's Sports Pub & Grill at their staggered times.

Bottom line, Da Geeks sucked and Friggin' Ernie was on, although during the match I didn't call him friggin', it was the Holy Mother of cuss words. He started out his games by hitting Tops and during a doubles match when we needed one bull and they needed 3, he hit a single which fell out, hit the Double Bull then followed it up with a single that stuck.....friggin' Ernie.

Rodman had a very nice moment when he hit back to back 3x2's. Woo Hoo he won a game!

The Honor Roll had Rodman with two 3x2's and Ernie with two 3x2's.

Tuesday Darts, Week 6 (9/27/11)

Final Score: Ga Geeks 3, Higgs Boson 4. Mark and Woody showed up @TheOldeShip early which was nice since we got to start early. Greg was hungry and after his bowl of clam chowder, he ordered some Crisps as you can read about here, GBD to the Max.

Greg has found out where the bulls are located on the board. He also impressed everyone by starting out a 501 singles game with a Ton-40 then adding a couple of 81's in the mix.

We were able to finally figure out how to control them in Cricket so there was no PMWing last night.

I was told by Greg that it was my time to be honored in the blog. He said I was to call myself "Tripleisish"! Well I finally woke up in the team games and in Cricket I figured out where the dang triple was located. I Hit T-19, T-18, and blew the next and hit a 3. AL lot more came out in that game as when we needed points I hit the T-20 when needed.

I had a problem in practice/warm-up where I could not hit a double to save my life. I got a very sore arm but it changed into a dull small pain that finally had me actually shooting better! The last out of the night was when Greg left me 58 in the double 301 game. I hit a solid 18, then aimed for "Tops" and hit a D2. Well the only thing I could do was to go to the bottom of the board and I did finish with the D19. Greg was impressed and he was impressed with my D17 earlier in the match.

The Honor Roll had me with a 3x2, Greg with a Ton-40 and a 3x2, and Mark had a 3x2.

Thursday Darts, Week 5 (9/22/11)

Final Score: Da Geeks 1, Are We Having Fun Yet 6. Randy, Ken, and Geff, who showed up late so we juggled the playing order to accommodate. That was the only good thing Da Geeks did.

Randy is an awesome player. He likes shooting bulls first which plays on the other teams mind. No wonder he is the Bull-Buster leader. Although Ken pulled off a 3x2 to win a doubles when Rodman and I needed one bull to win, bummer.

Marv was the star, I think he likes throwing a lot of games in a row.

I was not on, I shot a lot to the right tonight.

Rodman faced Randy first and I hate to say, he got his arse whooped.

The Honor Roll had me with a 3x2, Marv with a 3x3 and a 3x2, Ken had two 3x2's.

Tuesday Darts, Week 5 (09/20/11)

Final Score: Geek & Sub 1, Dartalohics 6. Edsel and Alden showed up right on time to The Olde Ship and gave us some interesting matches.

Marv subbed in for Greg as Greg and Dee are kayaking at Catalina for the next couple of days. I feel sorry for them as they have quite a bit of paddling coming up. I did give Greg some of my Ibuprofen I get from the VA  to help him out. I hope they are having fun.

Marvin had fun playing the '01 games again, but he did have a bit of trouble getting started in a 301 singles game, he didn't. He did make up for it by hitting Tops in the three team 301 games later on to get us started.

My only claim to fame for the night was in the first game I shot. Edsel started out with 4 60's in a row. I finally got going an was left with 80. I stepped up and something told me to GFI, so I hit Tops, breathed, and hit Tops again. Marv gave me crap by saying the first dart was a oops but I told him it felt right and it paid off.

Edsel totally dominated the Cricket game and that team was like that all night. The we hitting trips at will. If we closed our '01 games on time, we would have a lot better score than a 1-6.

The Honor Roll had Edsel with a Ton-09 and a 3x2. Alden had  Ton-25 and a Ton-35.

Thursday Darts, Week 4

Final Score: Da Geeks 3, Here For The Beer 4. Justin, Ed and Mr. Bastard (Julien) showed up at The Olde Ship British Pub & Restaurant and Bastard and Gail had dinner while Rodman and I finished up our practice games (1-1 BTW).

It started out as a good night as I caught heck for not having the correct color score sheet. Sorry guys, the Tuesday blue looks a lot like the Thursday green. Oh well, I messed up. This was only part of the abuse we threw back and forth to each other.

Marvin was hot on bulls and 16's tonight. And he hit Tops on the last dart to win the team game. Way to go Marv.

Rodman got to go first, or second as we altered the starting order to get a head start of the night, and he had some good "machines" which was good to see. (a "machine" is what our team calls three solid singles to close a number). Starting early means getting done early which is nice since Tuesday took forever.

I shot OK, had a couple of good throws, but the lack of practice sure shows.

Justin wasn't as impressive as the last time we met, but he is still a solid player. I am glad that Rodman was able to show him who was boss. At least he didn't take out the 160 in the team 1001 game because if he did, I would have given him a load of crap in this blog, but his turn he threw like crap so there is the caca for the night.

Ed was Ed, although he caught the PMW bug and capitalized on 20's during the doubles against Marv and Rodman. He should be Mr. Pain In The Ass as he is when he is on, which he was, until Marv and I took him and Mr. Bastard down in our doubles match.

Mr. Bastard was a thorn in our side, missing a round of 9's staring off a double game with a T-20, T-19, and then outside of the wire for a S-16. He had a PMW moment and the jury is still out to determine if the 3 18's we actual misses at the bull or if it was try to get the non-existent hangy of three in a bed, close together, and all in the pie in a row closet to the bull. Me being the judge, I say it was a PMW moment.

Nobody made the Honor Roll this week, but there were a lot of attempts to get on it.

Tuesday Darts, Week 4

Final Score, Da Geeks 1, Asscott & Kimwitt 6. Kim and Arsehole showed up, both on time! It was nice shooting out of Centerfield Sports Bar & Grill and it wasn't crowded. The only thing wrong, not really wrong, is that is was a very late night. There were a lot of delays, thanx to Mr. Numero Uno Arsehole who was responsible for the long delays. It started out as he went home to get something to help his teammate then taking FOREVER in selecting tunes at the very start of the first team 501 game. And his music suxed, except for the 2 tunes he let me and Greg pick out.

More delays as there were scoring errors, yes thanx to me, and just the fact that we were relaxed playing this team as we played as friends, not cut throat competition. Everyone got in the act throwing slurs, insults, and digs back and forth. It is so nice to play a team like that. It would have been nicer to win more over a Point Mongering Whore and his sidekick (who if you look up total loser in the dictionary, you will see is ugly mug).

Well I was off practicing my doubles prior to the game and it showed during the match. My first 301 game against Kim, he had 100 and I finally got on with an 8. I did just buckle down and repeated Winston Churchill's quote in my head, "never surrender and never give up." I was down to 4 and finally hit it using 3 darts, scoring on 2. A lot of wire action by being just a wee bit off.

Greg was on in bulls, but Mr. Arsehole wanted to get even with him after Greg beat him last time. Greg and I both need to practice, especially on closing. In our last 301 game, greg started off with getting us on with a 2 dart Ton, I followed with a Ton, and then we got down to 4 before they started. It was bad, we friggin' LOST!!! We could not get out. Our throws were just a wire off with good groups. Frustrating. Greg did hit a "G Spot" earlier, but still, we need practice.

Kim got back into his PMW mode and even Scott, excuse me, Mr. Arsehole!, commented on it. It is just Kim's way in showing his under-cofidence and running scared.

The Honor Roll had Greg with a High On of a Ton and Arsehole Scott had a 3x2.

Thursday Darts, Week 3

Final Score: Da Geeks 5, Twitchers 2. Jim, Bob, Mike, and Thom who came in at game 6 for Jim, showed up to a crowded bar as The Packers game was on. The only problem I had with the wait staff tonight was that I think they gave me diet soda as now I have that "funny" aftertaste. Also it is so funny when I get there, the punching bag breaks!! It looks like someone pulls the plug so drunks don't get in the way while the match is going on. It did start working again just as we were done, so it is so strange.

My teammates were on, which is good to see. I shot well, so well that Jim pulled his "play one game and give it to me" stunt, which is a habit of his. If he doesn't want to play, then get out of the league. I got satisfaction though after Marv left me 40 in the 1001 game. I was outside the first dart then nailed Tops on the second one. Whooo Hoooo!

The Honor Roll had Mike with a 3x2. I did have a Ton-21 int the last game, but those don't count on Thursday's, only Ton-80's.

Tuesday Darts, Week 3

Final Score: Geek & Son 3, Higgs Boson 4. Woody and Mark showed up, along with Steve Lawson, Pam, Christa, and others. Good to see all the players who have been around awhile.

Before I get into the star of the night, I will tell my readers how I did, or didn't. I started out strong with my opening 501 game. I shot 81, 83, 26, 94 but still couldn't hit my out of 3.

In the 301 team game, we were stuck on 4. I stepped up, first dart, resting outside the wire of D2. Second dart was resting on the inside of the double wire of the deuce, so X was left. Yes thank you Wire Gods, I hit it. Woody said to me, "I would be really disappointed if you didn't hit that."

Now Greg, Mr. Bullbuster. He threw solid darts to stay close to Mark in the first game them came on fire in the Cricket game. He kept close then was forced to shoot bulls, which he did and won the game. Final Score was 250-250.

The Honor Roll had Greg with a Ton-18 and a 4x2. Mark had a Ton-25.

Tuesday Darts, Week 2

Final Score: Geek & Son 1, Dartaholics 6. Alden and Edsel showed up and it was good seeing them again in the league. Both of my boys were there, Greg to shoot very well and Jami for support.

Greg was awesome as usual, coming from behind in his '01 games against Edsel to win those. Even with Edsel throwing back to back Ton-20's, Greg still came through. He took out an 82 after he listened and hit the trip 14, missed Tops and hit a single 20 then hit the Double 10. He loves '01 games!

I suxed but I was also getting the sweats and I experienced some dizziness during the game. I could not hit anything. The only thing I could figure out is that I did not eat properly and that meds the doctor has me on has the "you better eat something before you take this warning" on the data sheet that came with the pills. I was fine after I got home and ate something, so I better heed the warnings on the pills.

The Honor Roll had Edsel with two Ton-20's, a Ton-40, and a 4x2.

Thursday Darts, Week 1 (Fall Season 2011 8/25/11)

Final Score; Da Geeks 2, Bud Guys 5. Don, Ernie, and Marc showed up staggered and late but it was expected of them.

The rust has reared it's ugly head and all 3 of us showed signs of it. We tried but the Bud Guys can hit some good darts when it is needed, or not needed to put us farther behind.

I did improve during the two double games I was in, but faltered in the '01 game while Marc hit a Ton-40 then a Ton-60 a couple of turns later.

The Honor Roll had Rodman with a 4x3 and Don with a 3x2.

Tuesday Darts, Week 1 (Fall Season 2011) 08/23/11

Welcome back readers! This upcoming season is 15 weeks long with a break for Thanksgiving, Just a F.Y.I. Oh well time to blog...

Final Score: Geek & Son 3, Asscott & Kimwitt came to @TheOldeShip at very staggered times. Scott came early and Kim kept on calling saying he was running late during Greg and Scott's match. On well, that is Kim.

I do think that the little pratice Greg & I put in seemed to help as we were on fire, mine didn't start until my second game. I also sacrificed three to the cork in order to please the dart gods when I needed to double on. It worked my next turn and I thanked them.

Greg showed patience and some good darts. He finally took out a marathon "X" match and that set the tone.

I got my act together but it took me a while. My first cricket game was all circles until the X on17.

Greg and I need to continue work on our doubles. I shared this link with Greg and we discussed this and I gave it a try. Bob's 27 .

The Honor Roll had both Greg and I with a 3X2 each. Scott snuck one in for him later.

I again want to say sorry to Scott for my oops during my chalking.

The Blind Draw that wasn't

Greg and I went to the Dolphin Lounge to shoot in the blind draw but when we got there, we found out that the American Darts Association had a sanctioned event, men's 501 round robin.

It was good to watch much better players than I shoot darts. There are some good players out there, but not in Orange County. San Diego, Ventura, and Los Angeles all have active ADO events, but not many here locally. One player, Doug, was part of the board of the ADO, said that they would have a qualifier tourney at the Dolphin. I wish the word would get out so more players in this area could get out and start shooting!

After they were done, Greg and I threw a 501 game then Jeff stepped up to us and we shot a Cutthroat Cricket game. Jeff was sort of put off that the fact a father and son team were teaming up against him, but we had fun doing it.

It was pretty close between Greg and Jeff while I was floundering. I finally had a chance to help Greg and get me closer to Jeff by pounding 17's. I finally became the spoiler so I stepped out to let Greg and Jeff battle it out. Greg stepped up and made me proud. He shot a crap load of bulls and finally he needed one 15 and one bull. Needless to say he had one dart in his hand when finished.

After that Jeff and I shot a Cricket game. It was close, not.....I finally got it closer by a trip and then got on the bulls. Jeff won the game and I really had a good time out with my son.

Thursday Darts, Week 9 (Final week of the season)

Final Score: Da Geeks 6, Twitchers 1, Bob, Jim, and Mike showed up at Michael's Sports Pub & Grill with Thom showing up later on and came in at game 5.

Rodman started out strong and was leading his first game then he faltered and Bob got the win. Strong darts though from Rodman and he did enjoy himself.

Marv is throwing his "good" darts and is more consistent with them than his "bar darts".

I threw fairly well tonight bye throwing 4 rounds of "machine" darts. Machine darts are three solid singles in a turn, like a machine (it's a geek thing). I was also nicknamed the closer by closing out 3 games with a single dart in the bull.

The Honor Roll had Marv with a 3x2 and Bob had two 3x2's.

Tuesday Darts, Week 9

Final Score: Geek & Son 0, Ship Faced 7. Kim and Scott brought their A game. We were close, but there was a star for the night, not on my team though.

Scott......I want to start out by saying Scott is a good friend and one heck of a nice guy. The pineapple he dropped off at the fireworks booth was enjoyed by a lot of Rainbow Girls and it was delicious! Thank you Scott. See he is a nice guy but when it comes to darts, Greg said it best when he came up to me and said "Your right, he is a dick" after he whooped Greg in 2 close games. He turns from nice Scott to Arsehole Scott in the blink of an eye. His streak of not losing a singles match this season is still intact. Way to go arsehole. Oh yeah, He was also annoying with his "Magic Number" of 5, 4, 3, etc. all night.

Greg shot good numbers all night and can hit the bull regularly which is nice.

I shot a lot of big numbers, I took out some good outs, and got us on in 301. It wasn't enough.

The star of the night was Kim. In our 301 game, I got on with a 94 but he took out the 91 that he had with a 51-40 after I told him T-17, D-20 (2 darts for him also on that). I should have kept my big mouth shut.

Against Greg in the 501, he threw T7TT. That was Kim's night. He was quite impressive.

The Honor Roll had me with a Ton-14, Ton-17, Ton-20, and a High On of a Ton. Scott had a Ton-40 while Kim had a Ton-21, Ton-80, and a High Out of Ton-18. Way to go Kim.

Thursday Darts, Week 8

Final Score: Da Geeks 1, Here For The Beer 6. Justin, Ed, and Julien showed up at Throwbacks and we all played on the stage set up there. Makes you fell kinda special.

There should be an award for the Most Improved Player and that should go to Justin. I remember when he first came in the league to now where he is consistent and accurate all the time. My hat goes off to you Justin, well done and great darts!

He kicked my arse..........bad.............it still friggin' hurts!

The one thing I hated playing him is when I looked at the scoreboard, all I saw on his side of the board was the disgusting Smiley Faces while mine had a mark or 2 on a few numbers.

Marv shot a beautiful 9-2's in an area less than a dime, resting on the wire.

Ed was steady as usual, except for the team game with Marv and I, but that was it, and a nice 60 out!

Greg got a bad case of "The Wrong Friggin' Side of the Wire"  tonight, and that does get to you. He did shoot a nice Ton-40 in the team game and even took a picture of it. Marv commented we only took picks of To-80's, but Greg didn't care, he got his pic.

Julien was his usual 17 whore, not real aggressive, but he did own them early. Thank goodness he struggled on 16's as that helped us, but I wasn't that much help, Marv has a strong back.

The Honor Roll had Marv with a 3x2.

Thoughts for tomorrow's match

Tomorrow my son will be subbing for John, aka Rodman, and he gets to go to another bar he has never been before, Throwbacks Sports Bar. It should be fun and he says he is ready to take on the big dogs. We shall see.......

I have the lineup all set in my mind, but the other team likes to read my blog so I am not saying what it will be, they will have to wait.

I just hope he will throw as good as he did last night, but I am sure he will.

Tuesday Darts, Week 8

Final Score: Geek & Son 5, The Pitchers 2. Joel and Kevin showed up and got shocked by us! We played a lot of games because all the games are best 2 out of 3 and we ended up in a 1-1 tie a LOT tonight, forcing game 3.

We won a night and doing it 5-2 ain't bad. Greg was AWESOME! He was consistent and got the Winston Churchill saying " Never surrender, never give up" by coming back in his 301 game from 37 left for the other team and he forgot where the double was located. He finally remembered and lo and behold he won! He said he really enjoyed himself and can't wait until next week. He loves his darts and is still getting used to them, but watch out, he is rapidly improving.

I threw fairly well by taking out my 501 against Kevin with a round about 85, 45-18-22. In the last team 301 game, we had to get on so I missed, DB, 20. All were impressed. I think I took out that game also.

The honor roll had me with a Ton-114 and Greg with a 3x2. Joel had a Ton-25 and a 3x2.

Thursday Darts, Week 7

Final Score: Da Geeks 2, Bud Guys 5. Don, Ernie, and Mark showed up at their staggered times and had fun with us.

My teammates threw some good darts, especially during the team game where we started strong and Marv threw the high score for our side.

I did take my singles to 3 games, but Don got hot in the last game after getting embarrassed by me in game 2. I did get the Last Dart pot with the D2 so ended up $5 richer.

The Honor Roll had Mark with a 3x2.

Thursday Darts, Week 6

Final Score: Da Geeks 6, Twitchers 1. Jim, Thom, and Mike showed up to face  Da Geeks minus me as I have my fireworks stand to deal with. Greg subbed in and did well.

Greg reported to me he stomped Jim the first game and had it tied at 172 the second game when he threw a 3x2 to win. Way to go son. He almost won the last dart pot but missed the D-9.

All I can report is the Honor Roll with Greg with a 3x2 and Mike with a 3x2.

Tuesday Darts, Week 6

Final Score: Geek & Son 1, Bison Higgs 6. Mark and Kyle showed up and gave us close games and took a lot of 3 games legs to decide.

The night started great as I found $5.00 in the parking lot when we got there! Karma is good.

Mark showed an interesting talent to the bartender Josh at The Shippe tonight. He had him get a deck of cards and amazed all of us with his card tricks, or slight of hand as he showed how he controlled the cards to perform the trick. It was fantastic and sorry I didn't pull out my phone when he was showing how it was done.

Back to darts.........

Greg is getting much better and likes Top's! In his 501 game when he won the leg, his first five throws were 45, 74, 79, 81, 60. That is an excellent average.

I threw a lot of bulls tonight and some good numbers. The Honor Roll shows it. In my first cork of the night against Kyle, he threw a single and I said "OK, That's how you are going to be" and hit the center cork.

Houston we have a problem........His name is Kyle and he becomes a problem when it is his turn to chalk.

#1. I got in the zone and hit T20, T20, and was getting ready to repeat for a Ton-80 when he "wooshed" in response to the second trip and that did throw me off. I did politely tell him thank you and don't do it again please. Mark did also mentioned to him that was wrong.

#2. At the ship, there is a small stool that you can sit on during a singles match but during a team game it is frowned upon. We had to chalk the first team game so the first thing I did was to move the stool under the ledge so it was easy to switch chalkers during the game. When it was their turn the stool came out and it took forever for one to stand up move out of the way, then the other sits and then you have to wait as he gets settled in. After the first game and midway into the second game I had enough and had them move the stool to get the game moving. Greg told me later that pissed Kyle off, oh well.

#3. While chalking, Kyle will react with a head move he he thinks the dart might have been good, and looking up at the tv between throws. Quite annoying.

Their team still have the PMW tendencies but not as bad as the first time we met.

The Honor Roll had me with a Ton-01, Ton-20, and a 3x2. Kyle had a 3x2.

Thursday Darts, Week 5

Final Score: Da Geeks 2, Here For The Beer 5. Julien, Ed, and Justin showed up at The Olde Ship British Pub & Restaurant and even though we lost, we still had fun. And I want to thank the wonderful pub for getting a new dartboard for us. Thank you Simon, you are the best.

I don't know what the heck is going on with my darts. I am not consistent and tonight I couldn't hit the friggin' bull. This season I am not happy. I need to practice more,  but I have no place to put the board inside and outside there is the wind to contend with. I at least had two Tons in the 1001 game.

Marvin used his bar darts until he saw one of the plastic shafts was bent and get his other ones out of his car. He did shoot better with those.

Rodman was good as usual, but he was against Julien who is always good, even though he is a PMW!

The Honor Roll had Rodman with a 3x2 and Marv had a 4x3, with his non bar darts. Justin had a round of 9's against me with 17-17-17.

Thursday Darts, Week 4

Final Score: Da Geeks 4, Bud Guys 3. Don, Ernie, and Mark showed up with Chuck trailing behind with his arm in a sling to give support to his team. He really abused that arm of his, how??? Take a guess.

I threw poor darts. I did have a couple of good throws and was actually winning against Ernie until he woke up and started to hit his trips.

My teammates we on though which helped us to get the overall win for the night.

No entries for the Honor Roll this week.

Tuesday Darts, Week 4

Final Score: Geek & Son 0, zip, nada, Ship Faced 7. Kim and Scott fought the traffic and finally arrived at the Santa Ana location of The Olde Ship British Pub & Restaurant and gave us VERY close games, but those bastards won.

I am so friggin' proud of Greg. His darts are AWESOME. He was hitting big numbers consistently and he made the cork his bitch! He had a 173 in his first 501 game and hit his Ton-37. His next turn he hit the D-18 and said it felt good to be holding 2 darts in his hand knowing he won the game.

The games were close except for my cricket game with Scott. He was so far ahead, all he was shooting was bulls for bull-buster points. I knew it and was just trying to repeat my Thursday's round of 9's. Scott is a good guy, a bastard sometimes, but fun to be around. Kim got upset at Scott not closing the 16's so Scott complied and of course won the game.

The Honor Roll had Greg with a Ton-01 and a Ton-37. Kim had two Ton-40's and Scott had a Ton-25, a High Out of Ton-08, and a 3x2.

Results have been posted for Week 3

The results are in, Week 3 Results, and both of my teams are at 33.333% Not good.

I know where my weakness is and I need the wind to stop so I can practice.

Greg is on the Honor roll with his high scores last game. Way to go son!

Thursday Darts, Week 3

Final Score: Da Geeks 3, Twitchers 4. Bob, Mike, Jim, and Thom (who came in at game 5) showed up at Michael's to watch the Mavs take the game, and take the game against us.

Rodman shot OK, it was Bob who prevailed though. Marv shot some good darts and he was the hero finally taking out the last game.

I shot good darts tonight! My doubles are coming back a little bit as I aimed and shot the D-19 when I needed it. I also shot 3 trip 16's (I get a "dangley" because of that). I was a PMW for that throw but after I hit the first one, I decided to hit another and when I did that, I decided :
"what the heck" and went for #3. they were all within a dime diameter on the wire near the trip 7. I was honest in the 1001 game when the chalker thought I hit the D-2 for the win, but it was on the wire in the D17. Close but no cigar.

The Honor Roll had Marv with two 3x2's and me with a Round of Nine's, T-16, T-16, T-16. Mike had a 3x2 and a TON-80.

Tuesday Darts, Week 3

Final Score: Geek & Son 1, The Pitchers 6. Kevin and Joel showed up to "Taco Tuesday" at Michael's Sports Pub and Grill. The food was good but my darts sucked.

My doubles are currently non-existent and that is quite embarrassing. I was hitting good numbers in the '01 games. My first game in fact, for the first three throws I hit T20 with the first dart. I would get a good out and then poof! my doubles disappeared. I was close, but close does not count. I need to find a place to hang my board rather than outside where the wind plays havoc on a throw. I did get a 38 on the first throw in a team 501 so they might come back, if I practice.

Greg threw great darts. (he likes D-15!) He was more relaxed and just came from the Dart Shop with new shafts and flights. He kept this up until the Karaoke started....

From now on when I hear the song Rio, I will remember the pain of my ears bleeding and how embarrassed I was for the guy dishing us the pain.

The Honor Roll had Greg with a Ton-01 and a Ton-34. Joel had a 3x2.

Thursday Darts, Week 2

Final Score: Da Geeks 2, Here For The Beer 5. Gail, Ed Julien, and Justin (who cam in at game 4) showed up at Throwbacks Sports Bar & Grill and we had a lot of fun with them, even though they won.

There was a problem with the darts falling out of the board for both teams. It was a good board, it was the force field around it that was causing the drops.

I shot OK. I did actually win won against Julien, but that PMW (see I did mention it Julien) beat me. I did take out the last game, a 40 with a 5, 3, then a double 16 after Marv had a 80, shot a 20, thinking it was a trip then a double 10 leaving me "tops".

It is a lot of fun shooting against them as they like to give us crap, but we know how to give it back.

The Honor Roll had Marv with a 3x2 and Rodman had a 4x2. Ed had two 3x2's, Gail had a 3x2, and the PMW Julien had a 3x2.

Thursday Darts, Week 1 (Summer Season 2011)

Final Score: Da Geeks 2, Bud Guys 5. Don, Ernie and Mark showed up with Robert who filled in on game 6 for Don. Chuck was also there but he didn't throw as he has a sore right arm/shoulder and his doctor told him to stop what he was doing to let it heal. Don thinks his activity for his arm is not related to darts but something else and that's all I will say about that as I want to keep this blog PG-13.

I had one of my best games in my singles match against Don. They were close and it took us 3 games to figure out the winner. The last game I had 18's on him and needed 2 bulls to win, but Don was hitting the bulls and was up in points. He needed one 18 and I needed 2 bulls and just 18 more points to win. I hit a trip 18 for 54, second missed the bull, and the third hit the center red of the board to seal the win for me. Don commented that that was the best match we ever shot together. It was fun and even though my arm was sore from throwing Tuesday, I prevailed.

Rodman was a little rusty but as the night wore on he got better.

Marv is still using his bar darts and had stiff competition and was a little rusty also.

The Honor Roll had Rodman with a 3x2. Don had a 3x2 and Mark had a 4x3 and a 3x2.

Tuesday Darts, Week 1 (Summer Season 2011)

Final Score: Geek & Son 1, Higgs Boson 6. Mark and Kyle showed up early at the Dolphin Lounge. We started early but stayed late as we took long smoke breaks. Here is the other team:
The Point Mongering Whores.
Kyle is on the left, Mark, the better player and biggest whore is on the right.
As the caption on the picture shows, these two are the worst of the PMW's I have ever seen. Tip to the other teams, CLOSE! If they take a number they capitalize on it to no end! Greg and I figured it out after we both shot our singles and it worked. Also, their doubling is not consistant.

I shot OK, except I could not hit a friggin' double to save my life. I was on at bulls, to include me winning all but one of the corks. I lost because I couldn't double and I had a lead most of the game, except for cricket.

Greg on the other hand figured out where the double 20 was located and that was a big help. He shot very good for being nervous his first night and I am proud of him.

The Honor roll had me with a Ton-01 and Greg had a High On of a Ton. Mark had a 3x2.

Practice Day With My New Tuesday Night Teammate

Today I went to the Dolphin Lounge and shot a few games with my new partner, Greg. The new name is Geek & Son.

Greg shoots very well!! He used the Force as today is Star Wars Day, May the Fourth, and  shot pretty consistant. I told him a few things about what I would do to improve his throw and he picked up on it right away. I know that with a little more practice he will beat me consistently so I need to do the same.

We played 6 games, 501, cricket, 301, and then 3 more cricket games. Greg won one cricket game.

He knows he needs to brush up on his math, but he is definitely into the league play, and playing with his dad which warms me.

Thursday Darts, Week 15 (final week)

Final Score: Da Geeks 2, Ship Faced 5. Kim, Ruben, and Steve showed up to see the Lakers win and beat us.

We sucked bad, and they were on! Nothing special happened, we tried but after we would close a number to get the lead, they would come back with a friggin' triple.

The Honor Roll had Marvin and Rodman with a 3x2.

Thursday Darts, Week 14

Final Score: Da Geeks 4, Here for the Beer 3. Julien, Justin, and Gail showed up at The Olde Ship to a crowded dart area due to Santa Ana's finest, active and retired. They didn't get in the way, that much.

We were OK, I faltered, but we did throw some solid darts in the team game, leading at one time over 300 points!

I did have one good moment in the doubles by hitting 6 16's when it was needed. We won the game as Mr. Bullbuster, Rodman, hit a 5x3!

The Honor Roll had Rodman with a 3x3 and a 5x3. Justin had a 3x2
