Results are Suprising!

The current results are up. It is good to see us still in first on Thursday, but we need to step our game back up as the pack behind us are really close.

On Tuesday we just need to get our heads on straight and win!

Thursday Darts, Week 6

Final Score: Da Geeks 2, Bud Guys 5. Don, Ernie, and Chuck showed up to a not so crowded bar and dominated us. I had to fix my darts as they fell apart during practice.

Time to change flights and spinning tops for my magnetic shafts.

John, Rodman, was a machine last night, hitting his three single points at a turn. He also knows where the bulls are as the Honor Roll shows.

Marv got close but the trips from Chuck hurt him.

I shot poorly. I did get my second singles match down to 2 darts, but too little too late. I did keep some stats from my doubles and team games and from the looks of them, I  need to practice more at home.

The first doubles I hit 1 no-mark, 3 one-mark, and 1 3-mark. Second game, 3 1-mark and 4 3-marks, better but I want to be at least a 3 but a 4 mark a turn. The team game I shot 95, 39, 41, 60, 81, 0, bust, game over. At least no single digit throws.

The Honor Roll had me with a 3x2, Marv had a 3x2, and Rodman had a 4x2 and a 3x2. Don had a 3x2.

Tonight's #Darts, 2-24-11

This is the second third of the season starting tonight. We are at Michaels Sports Pub and Grill in Westminster/HB.

We beat this team 5-2 the first week of the season and hopefully we will do it at their house. Since we are the away team I get to match us up. They enter their names as they arrive, Don, Ernie, and then Chuck.

I think the lineup will be MBR as I feel like a Bert and Ernie round tonight. Let us see what happens......

Tuesday Darts, Week 6

Final Score: Da Geeks 5, Dart Dozers 2 (plus -1). Angie and Steve didn't call, her cell went right to voice mail, and we called it a forfeit at 8:10.

It was going to be a good night, Lakers and darts. I did beat Josh the bartender 3-1 in cricket. Marv and I shot a quick Chicago and they were close but Marv went 2-0 (6).

Thoughts for tonight's match 2/22/11

We need a win. Plain and simple, we need to shoot good darts and get us out of next to last place!

Tonight is the second time we meet Angelica and Steve, but this time it is at home, The Olde Ship. We beat them 6-1 them first time we met, that is when I lost to a girl with pink flights!

I hope I can do well tonight.

Week 5 results have been posted

The results for Week 5 have been posted.

Ouch, that slip-up we had has put us way down. Also the week before didn't help much. I hope that we can make it through the rest of the season doing better.

Thursday night has been great. I have two outstanding teammates that are doing great.

Well time to practice before Tuesday, we need all the wins we can get.

Thursday Darts, Week 5

Final Score: Da Geeks 4, Ship Faced 3. Kim, Jerome, and Derrek showed up at The Olde Ship and it was nice that we were the away team and didn’t have to keep score (thank you Rodman for filling in at game 6 so we could continue).

I knew it was going to be a good night when the match first started and Kim threw a green bull for his cork and I nailed the red double bull to get it. I shot fairly well although I could have done much better. Rodman was on last night and the Honor Roll shows it. Marv was OK, he did hit that last out for the night.

That 1001 game was one of our better team games as we started out strong by getting more that the other team, the Ton followed by the 95 from Rodman sure helped. Marv and I both became members of the Ton Club in that match. We did have a big lead but our lack of hitting the last double almost lost us the game. They got down to 8 with our 10 left, but like I said, Marv is my hero!

The Honor Roll had Rodman with a 3x2 and a 4x3, way to go John!

Thoughts for tonight's match 2/17/11

The team we play tonight is in second place behind us. We are 21-7 and they are 19-9.

It is amazing that it is week 5 and this team is still in the league. In the past Derrick and Jerome will drop out as they get bored but they are still hanging in there. I thought they would drop by week 4, but I was wrong.

This team should be fun and I hope we can pull out at least a 4-3 against them. I will match Me-Kim, John-Derrick, and Marv-Jerome.

It will be determined tonight at The Olde Ship where we are actually the visiting team. Whoo Hooo! No chalking tonight for us! Just darts and hopefully good darts. And I forgot my darts at home so I need to swing by the house before darts.

Tuesday Darts, Week 5

Final Score: Da Geeks 0, zip, goose eggs, nada, ziltch, Oh Geez 7. Mark and Joe make up the team from South County. The traveled all the way to

to beat our arses.

What can I say? No excuses. We were outshot by an A1 team. The only game they lost so far this season is the first night when Uno Who talked them into one game for the doubles matches and Uno got a 301 on them. They are very consistent and accurate. Fun guys, but good at darts. Out of the 15 legs we threw last night, we won 1, 1 301 as a team.

Marv and I tried, Marv was hitting better than I was. I had a 3, and a couple of 31’s by the 30 being 2 trip 5’s. Wire, Wire, Wire all night long for the both of us.

The Honor Roll had me with a Ton-24 and Marv got a danglie by a Round of Nine’s 20-20-19 (although Marv said the one 20 was supposed to be a T18). Mark had a Ton-16 and a Ton-40 while Joe had a Ton-40.

At least I have this to look forward to.

Thoughts for tonight's match 2/15/11

Tonightwe play the number one team, Oh Geez. I heard this team is two brothers who are quite good.

I just hope my darts are on tonight and Marv is feeling ok so he can throw well also.

I guess it is hurry up and wait until 8 PM to find out.

Reply to the Unsigned Comment

Scott, yes with that language I know it was you who left the unsigned comment, this is my blog, not Marv's. Besdies, if you read the code you can see how Marv did.

The results have been posted on Pacific Darts. Well our Tuesday sub-par performance has dropped us to third but Thursday is looking real good!

Thursday Darts, Week 4

Final Score: Da Geeks 6, Here for the Beer 1. Justin, Ed, and Julien made up the team to challenge  us, and they did put up a close fight.

Prime Rib Sandwich

I had my usual prime rib sandwich....yum.

I did not have much of a chance against Julien in my singles, I just could not connect when necessary. I did shoot some good darts later on, getting a Ton-40 in the team game and then having a chance to take it out with a double bull, hit the 14 instead but thank goodness for teammates.

The Honor Roll had Julien with two 3x2's.

Thoughts for the match tonight, 2-10-11

Tonight we get to play at home, The Olde Ship British Pub, which is always nice.

The only thing not nice is the fact we play Here for the Beer, and they are a tough team, usually winning the league. Julian is there best player and Ed can start hitting and gets tough to beat. I have beat Julian one time in all the seasons I have been on.

I will put the lineup as John, Marv, and myself and see what happens. Hopefully we can keep up our winning ways tonight.

Tuesday Darts, Week 4

Final Score: Da Geeks 1, Uno Who 6. George and Pete make up this new team. They are not new by any words. They used to be on a team playing out of  Brian's Beer and Billiards on Thursdays’ when it was a 4 man team! That has been a few years.

Let me first talk about the Venue Danny K's Billiards & Sports Bar. After you enter, you walk around the bar…a long bar….and then you see all the tables and to the right, there is a separate area for the darts away from traffic.

I was in luck to have a group of people sitting at the table on the other side of the area playing the trivia game using the remotes and such.

I think they were trying to get the bar #1 as once someone would know the answer, he/she would yell what number on the controller to press. When we left for the night, there was one man left with 6 controllers, playing them all.

I ordered the pulled pork and what I got was a small roll with canned BBQ pork on it, my wife could do better than this! The fries were good and they came with a side of ranch, nice touch.

Pointy things time: The boards were in great shape, it was that the lighting sucked. There were shadows that made it almost impossible to see what you hit. All night it was breaking your rhythm by asking the chalker what you hit.

We played close with a couple of exceptions. I was doing great in my cricket game against Pete, but I faltered on my 17’s and let him in and he got that game. In the 301 that followed, I was enjoying a great lead when I could not take out a 3 and let him back in.

I did hit my doubles though last night. I was able to get us on in the 301 games, sure on with a two, but it is an on!

The Honor Roll had me with a Ton-47 (where did the trip 9 come from?). George had a Ton-20 and Pete had a Ton-56 and a 3x3.

Thoughts for tonight's match 2/8/11

Tonight we get to go to Danny K's Billiards & Sports Bar to play a new team to the league. I have no idea who they are so this should be interesting. They lost to Scott and Jeremy 5-2 and the other new team 6-1. It should be a close match.

I think we should do pretty well as long as the board and lights are OK. Marvin did talk to the team captain, Marv being a board member and all, and expressed his concerns with the lighting and the boards at Danny K’s. Hopefully when I get there I will be surprised.

Otherwise it is “locating coasters and napkins to use as wedges to brace the board so it won’t wobble when a dart hits it” mode when I get there.

One of the cashiers here at work, Jan, saw me come in with my bag ‘o’ darts and wished me luck, so hopefully tonight will be a good night for Da Geeks.

Current Standings, week 3

The results have been posted.

Both nights Da Geeks are doing good. Next week we play another new team at Danny K's Billard & Sports Bar which ought to be fun. DK's has a separate area out of the traffic area for darts, but the lighting is poor and the boards are in bad shape the last time we played there. Good thing Marv carries another board in the car for just this reason.

On Thursday we play Here for the Beer at home at The Olde Ship. This team is usually in first place, but right now they are in second behind us. I hope we keep up our winning ways as I would like to hang another first place plaque with the others I have.

Until Tuesday or until I fell like blogging again.

Thursday Darts, Week 3

Final Score: Da Geeks 5, The Twitchers 2. Jim, Bob, Mike, and Thom (who came in at game 4 for Jim) showed up at Michael’s Sports Pub & Grill to challenge us, but not that much of a challenge.

Before I get into the match I first need to talk about the venue. Michael’s is a typical sports bar as shown by this picture of only some of their televisions.

The dart area is well lit and the boards are in good shape.

I mentioned that the service was slow and last night was no exception. I waited for over 15 minutes before the bartender finally came up to me and asked if I needed something. She was right, I did. I placed my order and started to warm up waiting on my dinner.

This is tequila lime chicken breasts on spinach and artichokes with rice…yummmm.

Well now for the throwing of the sharp pointy objects. I was practicing my 19’s when I threw this:

The 3 trips are nice, but they are in the 3, not the 19!

I did shoot fairly well and finally won my first singles match against Jim, but that is not saying much. My grandson Bradley could beat him! One thing about Jim, when he gets lucky, he gets lucky. In the team game he shot a 145, all twitches, but he did put pressure on us. (We lost that game. Marv missed on a 32 and left me 16 but Bob was up before me and hit his D17 for the win with the 34 takeoff).

Thom……what can I say about him? Well I could say he likes drinking more than shooting darts, and that is no lie. He was having great difficulty keeping his darts in the board and off the ground. Oh well, he is a good guy.

Bob is Bob. He is smart not shooting Tuesday with Kim as he is a much better player than that.

Mike is the newest member of the team. Good guy, friendly, but he needs to figure out what to shoot at. He likes closing numbers while he is down in points. He will learn, after all this is only week 3. He does shoot pretty good though.

The Honor Roll had Bob with a 4x2.

Thoughts for tonight's match 2/3/11

I was sitting here waiting on a computer to finish updating and was thinking about tonight’s match. Well since I have a new blog spot that is easy to post to, I thought I would blog my thoughts.

Tonight’s team is the Twitchers. This team Marv and I were on in the early years, 2000 (?), and they are not the best team in the league. Last season they didn’t play as Jim was getting some work done on his arm, elbow, something. They don’t have one of their regular teammates, Kim, as he is captaining Ship Faced. So that leaves Jim, Thom, and ????.

I need a win for my singles so I will put myself up against Jim. He might do his usual and quit after the first game and let me have the win, but I hope he lets me go the distance as I feel the need to throw some darts tonight.

We play at Michael's Sports Pub tonight. This place has decent food, the servers are nice but a little slow, and the “decorations” in the bar are nice (Goldenwest College is right down the street). The one problem is where the darts are located; it is right in the path to the bathrooms so there are a lot of times when you need to wait on people to go by before you throw. Also it is in the path of the busboys taking dishes into the kitchen to get washed. This breaks your rhythm when you are trying to do well. Oh well, that is life.

So now it is hurry up and wait until 8 PM when the festivities begin.

Shoot Well! And go Lakers! They need a win tonight against the Spurs! I want to think of this picture at the beginning of the fourth quarter.....
